Design 911 / Lindsey's Glamour Bedroom

For my first Design 911, I received an email from Lindsey who lives in Dallas who is redecorating her bedroom. Lindsey purchased these chairs from a vintage store which were once sitting chairs at The Dallas Country Club. She explained to me she wants to incorporate the pair in her bedroom and isn't sure how to make them work.

Following are some design suggestions for the room and the chairs...

Lindsey has already done a great job decorating her room. Her bed, bedding and dresser are all fab purchases. I think the chairs will look really nice if the were lacquered in white gloss and upholstered in a light green velvet fabric with brass tacks added to the trim.

I would suggest painting the room a soft beige and adding the Ikea Ritva bleached curtains (Lindsey said she was considering them) and have them hang to the floor and add some soft colored trim with some detail. I feel like the room has too many dark pieces and I would switch out those black lamps for the green ones but spray paint them turquoise and paint that mirror over your bed in white. I think it will brighten up the room. You might also want to buy new handles for your bedside tables. Some glass nob's or something white would make them really stand out.

Lindsey may want to consider reusing one of the black lamps for her dresser or put one of them in between the chairs if she has a side table and find some white shades for them. You will probably need some light on that side of the room.

Design 911

I have been wanting to make my blog a more interactive platform for my readers, and after many emails and comments asking what you guys want to see I decided to add a new feature to my site.
Since the bulk of my work is revamping furniture I thought I would give some advice to my readers.

Lets say you have a piece you're not sure what to do with it? Send me a picture of the piece and a picture of the room it will go in. Give me some idea of what direction you would like to go in. What colors you like or dislike and also if you have kids or pets - the more information the better.

I will post a mini inspiration board along with the original images of the piece and the room it will be placed in.

Keep in mind location does not matter nor does the style.
I am open to all kinds of items - it can be traditional, mid century or modern.
I will post one project every Friday - so get those images in so I can get to yours first!

BTW- thank you Courtney @ stylecourt for the name and the post. You rock!

Designer Networking Event Last Night...

All I can say is WOW! I am so impressed with you all!
Last night was a huge success and thank you all who came out to support.

On April 19th, Turquoise will be hosting our second networking group that will include some amazing furniture designers and artists. We encourage you to bring your own products, portfolio, press information etc.

Our RSVP list is growing and growing and we are asking everyone to chip in $5 for drinks and food. Just to give you an idea of who is coming...we have a bunch of interior designers, assistants and project managers, artists, painters, sculptors, showroom and store owners, textile designers and antique dealers.

Okay I have to admit....

I had no idea how many hits I was getting on my blog until I added the site meter. WOW you guys are ACTUALLY reading my blog!!
